This communication describes one pediatric neurosurgeon's personal view of the neurosurgical perspectives in pediatric neurooncology. Various roles of surgery, including histological verification, maximum cytoreduction, neurodecompression and restoration of the cerebrospinal fluid pathway, are emphasized.
