Neuropsychological functioning of children with sickle cell anemia (HbSS) who have experienced a single stroke has not been extensively investigated. In this study, the neuropsychological functioning of 10 children with HbSS who were receiving transfusion therapy following stroke with no identifiable recurrence was examined.
