Non-motor manifestations of Parkinson disease (PD) are common and some may actually antedate motor dysfunction. Extrapyramidal signs in PD are tightly linked to striatonigral dopaminergic denervation associated with neuronal loss and Lewy bodies in the residual neurons of the substantia nigra.
