Cdk5 dysregulation is a major event in the neurodegenerative process of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In vitro studies using differentiated neurons exposed to Abeta exhibit Cdk5-mediated tau hyperphosphorylation, cell cycle re-entry and neuronal loss.
