Mazuelloids: Product of Post-Mortem Phosphatization of Acanthomorphic Acritarchs
Abstract Enigmatic microfossils from the early Silurian of Poland known as mazuelloids (= muellerisphaerids) have been identified as Baltisphaeridium-like acanthomorphic acritarchs that have beenExpand
Graptolite nature of the Ordovician microfossil
Light microscopic, SEM and TEM investigations show that the periderm of the problematic Ordovician organic microfossil Xenotheka klinostoma ~isenack, 1937 is buht of five layers: inner lining,Expand
A new chitinozoan species from the Upper Ordovician of the East Baltic
A new species Conochitina rugata, earlier treated as nomen nudum, is formally defined. The species has been identified in the upper part of the Pirgu Stage in many East Baltic sections of the BalticaExpand
Chitinozoans and the age of the Soom Shale, an Ordovician black shale Lagerstätte, South Africa
Isolated chitinozoans from the Soom Shale Member of the Cedarberg Formation, SW South Africa are described and provide a date of the latest Hirnantian–earliest Rhuddanian. The recovered chitinozoansExpand
Chitinozoan biostratigraphy of the Upper Ordovician Greenscoe section, Southern Lake District, UK
Nineteen samples taken in the Upper Ordovician Kirkley Bank Formation at the recent Greenscoe section yielded a rich and moderately to well preserved chitinozoan assemblage, in spite of a highExpand
EARLY SILURIAN CHITINOZOANS IN THE APUCARANA SUB-BASIN (PARANÁ BASIN), SOUTH BRAZIL, AND THEIR BIOSTRATIGRAPHIC PROVENANCE
Early Silurian chitinozoans recovered from cuttings samples of pre-Silurian units of the PETROBRAS 1-SE-1-SC well, near Seara in the State of Santa Catarina, southern Brazil, are compared with thoseExpand
New insights into the chemical composition of chitinozoans
The chemical structure of isolated chitinozoan specimens extracted from Early Silurian marine rocks has been investigated by micro-FTIR, laser micro-Raman spectroscopy and laser micropyrolysis-gasExpand
Middle Cambrian pterobranchs and the Question: What is a graptolite?
The presence of distinct fusellar structure is taken as evidence to include a number of fossils from the Middle Cambrian to the Lower Ordovician of North America and Europe with the Pterobranchia.Expand

MICROARCHITECTURE OF THE CHITINOZOAN VESICLES AND ITS PALEOBIOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE
Morphology and inner structure of vesicles were studied by SEM in several chitinozoan species. Ten distinct. types of vesicle surface sculpture are defined. Vesicle surface sculpture is supposed toExpand
