Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) is a compound used in the treatment of alcohol withdrawal, narcolepsy, and for induction of anaesthesia. It is also contained in many products illegally marketed as "dietary supplements" and is increasingly being recognised as a potential drug of abuse.
