Many techniques have been used to relieve obstructive symptoms associated with benign prostatic hypertrophy. Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) with an electrocautery loop is the most commonly performed operation to relieve bladder neck and urethral obstruction caused by prostatic adenoma.
