Alloantigens are regularly demonstrable by antibodies from alloimmunized individuals, whereas naturally occurring alloantibodies, which could be detected only against a small proportion of alloantigens, occur irregularly and their origin is enigmatic (Perrault 1973, van Loghem 1978).
