Prevalence of malnutrition in hospitalised children: retrospective study in a Spanish tertiary-level hospital
TLDR
It should be mandatory to accomplish an initial screening and follow-up during hospitalisation of younger patients and those suffering from diseases of the nervous and/or respiratory system and, especially, from congenital diseases.
Frequency and risk factors for malnutrition in children undergoing general anaesthesia in a French university hospital.
TLDR
All children should be screened routinely for malnutrition or the risk of malnutrition at the pre-anaesthesia visit, allowing a programme of preoperative and/or postoperative nutritional support to be initiated.
Malnutrition and medical nutrition therapy in hospitalized children: a case study of using national malnutrition screening tools in northeastern Iran

Determining the prevalence of malnutrition in hospitalized paediatric patients.
TLDR
A nutrition risk-screening tool, identifying risk factors for malnutrition such as food access and vulnerability, should be developed and used to assess nutrition status and risk during the course of hospitalisation, in addition to planning appropriate nutrition care plan interventions for discharge.
Prevalence of malnutrition in paediatric hospital patients.
Prevalence of malnutrition in pediatric hospital patients
TLDR
The prevalence of acute malnutrition of children admitted to hospital is still considerably high, but there is a scarcity of data concerning the nutritional status during hospital admission, and screening tools to identify children at risk of developing malnutrition might be helpful.
Malnutrition in hospitalized pediatric patients. Current prevalence.
TLDR
Although the prevalence of acute and chronic protein-energy malnutrition was significantly less in 1992 than in 1976, the numbers are still alarmingly high, and important risk factors may be underlying chronic disease, periods of normally rapid growth, and recognized need for nutrition intervention.
Malnutrition in a children's hospital
[Nutritional status and risk in hospitalized children].
TLDR
Malnutrition is frequent in a population of hospitalized children and energy intake and referral to a dietician are insufficient, according to this one-day cross-sectional survey.
Malnutrition in children with congenital heart defects.
TLDR
Malnutrition remains a problem among children with congenital heart defects, especially in those with either heart failure or cyanosis, and symptomatic infants are the worst affected.
The effects of hospitalization on the nutritional status of children.
TLDR
The prevalence of malnutrition at the time of admission was elevated and remained unchanged by discharge and prolonged hospitalization and pneumonia were linked with weight loss in hospital.

TLDR
Malnutrition among hospitalized children and especially those with chronic diseases is worth attention, and closer observation and nutritional support are required in the cases of patients diagnosed with chronic kidney insufficiency, immune insufficient, neurological diseases, and cystic fibrosis.
