Key Summary Points Hyperkyphosis is a common geriatric condition that affects as many as 20% to 40% of older adults. Hyperkyphosis affects both men and womenthe lay term dowager's hump is a misnomer. Vertebral fractures are present in only about one third of the older adults with the worst degrees of thoracic curvature. Hyperkyphosis may be associated with multiple adverse health outcomes, including impaired pulmonary and physical function, fractures, and possibly increased risk for death…
