The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect of naringenin on oxidative stress, on pro-inflammatory cytokines like TGF-β1, IL-1β and on programmed cell death in the testicular damage resulting from streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetes in rats. Diabetes was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of STZ (50 mg/kg), and the rats were treated with naringenin (5 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg) administered once a day orally for 10 weeks, starting 3 days after the STZ injection. Naringenin ameliorates streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat renal impairment by downregulation of TGF-β1 and IL-1 via modulation of oxidative stress correlates with decreased apoptotic events
TLDR
Naringenin acts as a protective agent in diabetic renal impairment by altering oxidative stress, modulation of cytokines expression and apoptotic events.
Impacts of garlic extract on testicular oxidative stress and sperm characteristics in type 1 and 2 diabetic rats: An experimental study
TLDR
Garlic was associated with reduced glucose, oxidative stress, IL-1 β , and iNOS gene expression and increased testosterone and sperm quality in diabetic rats, and was normalized by garlic intervention.
Modulatory influence of Parkia biglobosa protein isolate on testosterone and biomarkers of oxidative stress in brain and testes of streptozotocin-induced diabetic male rats.
TLDR
Evidence is provided that PBPi could protect the brain and testicular tissues against oxidative stress induced by STZ, via modulation of serum testosterone concentration and also by enhancing antioxidant defence system in STZ-diabetic rats.
Effects of L-Carnitine on the sperm parameters disorders, apoptosis of spermatogenic cells and testis histopathology in diabetic Rats
TLDR
In the diabetic rats, LC decreases serum glucose level, improves the diameter and thickness of the epithelium of spermatogenic cells, reduces germ cells' apoptosis, and improves epididymal sperm parameters, suggesting that LC plays an effective role in diabetes-induced infertility.
The Protective Effects of Naringenin on Testes Gonadotoxicity Induced by Cisplatin in Rats
TLDR
The results of the present study have clearly shown that the impact of CIS on several reproductive parameters of male rats was improved by naringenin administration in term of increased serum testosterone concentration, sperm count, sperm motility and sperm viability and genital organs weight.
Therapeutic effect of quercetin on the complications of nicotinamide-streptozotocin induced type-2 diabetes in male rats
TLDR
Quercetin has potential therapeutic effects on different complications of T2DM induced nicotinamide-streptozotocin in male rats, which is mediated by improving of the testicular antioxidant, anti-inflammatory status, acetylcholinestrase and butrylcholineste activities, also up-regulation of the PPAR-γ gene expression.
Effect of Almond Seeds Oil Extract and Some Antioxidant Agents on lipid profile and Oxidative Stress in Induced Diabetes Mellitus in Rats
TLDR
The diabetic rats treated with VitaminE, (Vitamin-E+L-carnitine) and almond, showed significant reducing serum glucose and cholesterol, while the diabetic rats treating with alloxan showed significant reduction in serum glucose, cholesterol and cholesterol.
Effects of short- and long-term regular exercise on reproductive tissue in streptozotocin-induced diabetic male Wistar rats
TLDR
Recommendation is recommendation of investigating the tissue of interest for diagnosis of diabetes complications, measuring inflammatory mediators of tissue rather than evaluating their serum concentrations, and focusing on vascular complications as a major complication of diabetes.
Treatment effect of l-Norvaline on the sexual performance of male rats with streptozotocin induced diabetes.
Mitigating Effect of Honey on Caffeine Induced Oxidative Stress in Male Albino Rats
TLDR
Evidence is provided that honey has the potential to mitigate the effect of caffeine on oxidative stress markers in male albino rat models in a dose dependent manner.

Protective Effect of Rutin and Naringin on Sperm Quality in Streptozotocin (STZ) Induced Type 1 Diabetic Rats
TLDR
The data suggests that the possible protection of testicular tissue and reproduction from oxidative stress have been induced by type 1 diabetes mellitus.
Effect of Melatonin on Testicular Damage in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes Rats
TLDR
It is suggested that intraperitoneal administration of melatonin for 5 days is a potentially beneficial agent to reduce testicular damage in adult diabetic rats, probably by decreasing oxidative stress.
Apoptotic germ-cell death and testicular damage in experimental diabetes: prevention by endothelin antagonism
TLDR
It is demonstrated that an ET-1 mediated pathway might be involved in testicular injury and germ-cell apoptosis in diabetes.
Occurrence of oxidative impairments, response of antioxidant defences and associated biochemical perturbations in male reproductive milieu in the Streptozotocin-diabetic rat.
TLDR
It is hypothesized that oxidative impairments in testis which develop over time may at least in part contribute towards the development of testicular dysfunction eventually leading to testicular degeneration which culminates in reduced fertility during the progressive phase of STZ-induced diabetes in adult rats.
Beneficial effects of quercetin on sperm parameters in streptozotocin‐induced diabetic male rats
TLDR
It is concluded that QR has significant beneficial effects on the sperm viability, motility, and serum total testosterone and could be effective for maintaining healthy sperm parameters and male reproductive function in diabetic rats.
Citrus flavonoid naringenin improves aortic reactivity in streptozotocin-diabetic rats
TLDR
Chronic treatment of diabetic rats with naringenin could prevent some abnormal changes in vascular reactivity in diabetic rats through nitric oxide and endothelium integrity is necessary for this beneficial effect.
Methoxy VO–salen Stimulates Pancreatic β Cell Survival by Upregulation of eNOS and Downregulation of Apoptosis in STZ-induced Diabetic Rats
TLDR
Histopathological, immunohistochemical, and apoptotic studies revealed that MetVO–salen-induced amelioration of the diabetic state appears to be significant to the preservation of a functional portion of the pancreatic β cells which initially prevent STZ toxicity.
Diabetic rat testes: morphological and functional alterations
TLDR
In STZ‐induced diabetes, the altered spermatogenesis, more severe in SPI animals, is possibly due to the effect of OS on Leydig cell function which could cause the testosterone decrease responsible for the alterations found in the seminiferous epithelium of diabetic animals.
