Four new naphthoquinones (1-4), including a dimeric one, shikometabolin G (1), together with six known ones (6-10), were isolated from the methanol extract of Onosma paniculatum. Their structures were established based on the analysis of NMR and MS spectroscopic data. All of the compounds were evaluated for inhibitory effects on NO production in murine macrophage RAW 264.7 cells. Compounds 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 displayed good activity on the inhibition of NO production (IC50 = 0.4-16.5 µM…
Bioactive 3,8‐Epoxy Iridoids from Valeriana jatamansi
Twelve 3,8‐epoxy iridoids, including four new compounds, jatamanins R–U (1–4), and eight known compounds (5–12), were obtained from the roots and rhizomes of Valeriana jatamansi. The structures were
Identification of Onosma visianii Roots Extract and Purified Shikonin Derivatives as Potential Acaricidal Agents against Tetranychus urticae
A lipophilic extract of Onosma visianii roots extract containing 12% of shikonin derivatives demonstrated significant toxicity and inhibition of oviposition against Tetranychus urticae mites, being valuable model compounds for the study of new anti-mite agents.
Onosmanones A and B, two novel quinonoid xanthenes from Onosma paniculatum
Abstract Onosmanones A (1) and B (2), two novel quinonoid xanthenes with two geranyl groups, have been isolated from the whole plants of Onosma paniculatum. Their structures were elucidated on the
Antiproliferative and cytotoxic effects of bioactive compounds isolated from Onosma bourgaei
Onosma species have been used commonly for traditional medicine for years due to their bioactive compounds content and displayed the strong antiproliferative activity against corresponding cell lines, compared with standard compound, cisplatin.
Pigment production by Fusarium solani BRM054066 and determination of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties
The fungus F. solani BRM054066, under optimized conditions of cultivation, proved to be a promising source of biologically active natural pigments with wide industrial applicability.
In vitro Immunomodulatory Effect of Lawsone Methyl Ether on Innate Immune Response of Human Phagocytes
The results suggest that LME was able to suppress human phagocyte at the different steps including chemotaxis and production of oxidative stress, suggesting that L ME has potency as an anti-inflammatory agent by modulating innate response ofhuman phagocytes.
Daldiniaeschsone A, a Rare Tricyclic Polyketide Having a Chromone Unit Fused to a δ-Lactone and Its Symmetrical Biphenyl Dimer, Daldiniaeschsone B, from an Endophytic Fungus Daldinia eschscholtzii SDBR-CMUNKC745
Daldiniaeschsone A, a rare tricyclic polyketide having a chromone unit fused to a δ-lactone and its symmetrical 6,6′-biphenyl dimer, together with three known compounds, were isolated from a plant-derived endophytic fungus.

Meroterpenoids and a naphthoquinone from Arnebia euchroma and their cytotoxic activity.
Four new meroterpenoids, arnebinols A-D (1-4), and one new prenylated naphthoquinone, 5,8-O-dimethyl-11-deoxyalkannin (5) were isolated from the roots of Arnebia euchroma by spectroscopic data analysis and X-ray-single crystal diffraction analysis.
Two new dimeric naphthoquinones with neuraminidase inhibitory activity from Lithospermum erythrorhizon
The crude methanol extract of roots of Lithospermum erythrorhizon was subjected to successive chromatographic fractionation which afforded two new dimeric naphthoquinone derivatives shikometabolin E
Structures of naphthoquinones produced by the fungus, Fusarium sp., and their biological activity toward pollen germination
From an unidentified Fusarium sp., eight substances possessing a 1,4-naphthoquinone skeleton were isolated (F2~F9) and their structures were elucidated from the physical and chemical evidence. The
Cellular pharmacology studies of shikonin derivatives
It is hypothesized that shikonin is an effective inhibitor of protein–protein interaction with multiple targets in both the intracellular and extracellular compartments, which can account for the broad spectrum of shik onin biological and pharmacological activities.
Quinones and Related Compounds in Higher Plants. XXI. New Findings on the Proton and Carbon-13 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectra of Shikonin
Inspection of the proton and carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (1H- and 13C-NMR) spectra of shikonin (1), cycloshikonin (9) and their derivatives led to the conclusion that, in solution, they
