This paper reports a high-yield synthesis of Ag nanospheres made up of primary nanoparticles. The size of the silver nanospheres can be controlled by changing the concentration of poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) which acts as a stabilizer. In addition, the surface morphology of the nanospheres can be well controlled through controlling the shape of primary Ag nanoparticles by introducing a small quantity of ionic capping agents in the solution. Different surface morphologies of Ag nanospheres lead…
Controllable Electrochemical Synthesis of Silver Dendritic Nanostructures and Their SERS Properties
Ag dendritic nanostructures were synthesized on fluorine-doped tin oxide covered glass substrates by the electrodeposition method. Results demonstrate that the size, diameter, crystallinity, and
Green synthesis of rosettelike silver nanocrystals with textured surface topography and highly efficient SERS performances
3D rosettelike silver nanocrystals were synthesized in a large scale via a green synthetic method at room temperature without using any surfactants. The rosettelike silver nanocrystals exhibit a
The structure, morphology, and the metal-enhanced fluorescence of nano-Ag/ZnO core–shell structure
Nano-polyc rystalline silver (Ag) particles with the diameter of 60 nm were synthesized by the reducing agent sodium citrate. An amorphous zinc oxide (ZnO) shell layer was then coated on the surface
Surfactantless Synthesis and the Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectra and Catalytic Activity of Differently Shaped Silver Nanomaterials

A new method of microbead silica preparation with superficially built-in 2–3 nm silver seeds is suggested by using a simple reaction of Stoeber SiO2 microspheres with hot aqueous solutions of
The Effect of FeCl3 in the Shape Control Polyol Synthesis of Silver Nanospheres and Nanowires
Morphologically controlled nanostructures have been increasingly important because of their strongly shape dependent physical and chemical properties. This study discusses the effect of FeCl3
Green synthesis of asymmetrically textured silver meso-flowers (AgMFs) as highly sensitive SERS substrates.
TLDR
The time-evolution of TEM images and XRD analysis confirmed the anisotropic growth of AgMFs with single crystalline phase, of which the formation mechanism was described in detail.
Preparation and characterization of a novel nanocomposite: silver nanoparticles decorated cerasome
Abstract In this study, a novel artificial hybrid vesicle, nano silver particles decorated cerasome were fabricated through sol–gel and self-assemble methods as well as in situ reduction. Samples

Silver Nanoplates with Special Shapes: Controlled Synthesis and Their Surface Plasmon Resonance and Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Properties
Shape-controlled synthesis of metal nanostructures has opened many new possibilities to design ideal building blocks for future nanodevices. In this work, new types of monodisperse silver nanoplates
The synthesis of SERS-active gold nanoflower tags for in vivo applications.
TLDR
The key synthesis strategy was to use a common Good's buffer, HEPES, as a weak reducing and particle stabilizing agent to confine the growth of the Au nanocrystals in the special reaction region of limited ligand protection (LLP).
Surface-enhanced Raman scattering from transition metals with special surface morphology and nanoparticle shape.
TLDR
A preliminary theoretical calculation, using the three-dimensional finite difference time domain (3D-FDTD) method, was performed to evaluate the local electromagnetic field on transition metal surfaces and the result is in good agreement with the experimental data.
Shape-controlled synthesis of metal nanostructures: the case of silver.
TLDR
Investigating the growth mechanisms for silver nanocubes, nanowires, and nanospheres produced through a polymer-mediated polyol process found that the crystallinity of a seed and the extent of the PVP coverage on the seed were both instrumental in controlling the morphology of final product.
Gold Nanostars For Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering: Synthesis, Characterization and Optimization.
TLDR
The measured SERS enhancement factors suggest an interesting correlation between nanostar size and SERS efficiencies, and were relatively consistent across different star samples, with the enhancement factor estimated as 5×103 averaged over the 52-nm nanostars for 633-nm excitation.
Surface enhanced Raman scattering effects of silver colloids with different shapes.
TLDR
The great differences of the SERS spectra of rhodamine B at these Ag colloids confirmed that the shapes and crystal planes of silver have great effect on Raman enhancement, especially the crystal planes.
Nanostructured surfaces and assemblies as SERS media.
TLDR
Recent progress in the synthesis of novel plasmonic nanoparticles, fabrication of highly ordered one-, two-, and three-dimensional SERS substrates, and some applications of corresponding SERS effects are discussed.
Shape-Controlled Synthesis of Gold and Silver Nanoparticles
TLDR
Monodisperse samples of silver nanocubes were synthesized in large quantities by reducing silver nitrate with ethylene glycol in the presence of poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP), characterized by a slightly truncated shape bounded by {100, {110}, and {111} facets.
Controlling anisotropic nanoparticle growth through plasmon excitation
TLDR
It is demonstrated that the previously described photoinduced method for converting silver nanospheres into triangular silver nanocrystals—so-called nanoprisms—can be extended to synthesize relatively monodisperse nanoprism with desired edge lengths in the 30–120 nm range.
