Abstract We reported the deformation of close-cell nanoporous gold with grain size of 20 nm under tension using molecular dynamics. With the decrease of relative mass density and formation of close-cell nanoporous structures, mechanical properties of nanocrystal were found to be changed significantly. The Young's modulus decreases with the decrease of mass density and follows the similar rule to that of the open-cell nanoporous.
