Nanocrystalline soft magnetic material applied to IPMSM evaluated by FEM calculation

To achieve a high efficiency motor, core loss reduction is shown by FEM calculation in replacing conventional steel plate with Fe-based amorphous alloy and nanocrystalline soft magnetic material. Especially, 98% core loss reduction is found when nanocrystalline soft magnetic material and bonded NdFeB permanent magnet are applied to IPMSM. The reduced core loss is expected to be a few percentages of the other components of motor losses as cupper loss and mechanical loss.
