Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with an enhanced outcoupling efficiency and a suppressed efficiency roll-off were fabricated by inserting a nanosize pixel-defining layer (nPDL) that defines the OLED emission region as an array of nanoholes. The outcoupling efficiency of the nano-arrayed OLEDs was increased through the reduced surface plasmon polariton loss caused by the wavy diffraction grating at the metal-organic interface, and their efficiency roll-off was suppressed through the…

Nanoslot metasurface design and characterization for enhanced organic light-emitting diodes
TLDR
An optimization factor introduced to evaluate the performance based on out-coupling power to the radiation mode and reflectance of MIB-OLEDs confirms that integration with MS improves performance by 16% over conventional planar structure and is found to enhance OCE by 51% with Lambertian-like pattern.

Inkjet Printing of Mixed-Host Emitting Layer for Electrophosphorescent Organic Light-Emitting Diodes.
TLDR
The obtained results provide a blueprint for designing enhanced PhOLEDs with inkjet-printed mixed hosts and device efficiency improved by blending tris(4-carbazoyl-9-ylphenyl)amine (TCTA) with pyrido[3',2':4,5]furo[2,3- b]pyridine (3CzPFP).
Study on the difference in exciton generation processes for a single host and exciplex-type co-host.
TLDR
A significant improvement in device performance is attributed to eliminating the exciton quenching resulting from the captured holes and the efficient energy transfer from the exciplex-type co-host to the phosphorescent emitter incurred by the reverse intersystem crossing process.
