A new species of glycyphagid mite, Dermacarus spermophilus, is described from Sper- mophilus lateralis Say (Sciuridae) from Oregon, and Dermacarus hylandi Fain 1969 is completely figured for the first time. A number of species have been described in the genus Dermacarus Haller 1880. How- ever, most of them are based only on the hy- popial form.
