A photometric, astrometric and spectroscopic investigation of the poorly studied open cluster NGC 6738 has been performed in order to ascertain its real nature. NGC 6738 is definitely not a physical stellar ensemble: photometry does not show a defined mean sequence, proper motions and radial velocities are randomly distributed, spectro-photometric parallaxes range between 10 and 1600 pc, and the apparent luminosity function is identical to that of the surrounding field. NGC 6738 therefore…

Photometry from online Digitized Sky Survey plates
Online Digitized Sky Survey (DSS) material is often used to obtain information on newly discovered variable stars for older epochs (e.g. Nova progenitors, flare stars, etc.). We present here the
Kinematic parameters and membership probabilities of open clusters in the Bordeaux PM2000 catalogue
We derive lists of proper-motions and kinematic membership probabilities for 49 open clusters and possible open clusters in the zone of the Bordeaux PM2000 proper motion catalogue

NGC 6994 { clearly not a physical stellar ensemble ?
The sparse stellar ensemble NGC 6994 = M 73 has recently been discussed as a possible remnant of an old open cluster. In order to solve the controversy regarding the nature of this object we have
Memberships and CM diagrams of young open clusters. I - NGC 225
Results are presented on astrometric, photometric, and spectroscopic studies of the loose young open cluster NGC 225, conducted on the basis of observations and archived plate material. The main
DAOPHOT: A Computer Program for Crowded-Field Stellar Photometry
The tasks of the DAOPHOT program, developed to exploit the capability of photometrically linear image detectors to perform stellar photometry in crowded fields, are discussed. Raw CCD images are
