OBJECTIVE Little apoptosis has been observed in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) synovial tissues. Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFalpha) is expressed in the joints of patients with RA, yet RA synovial fibroblasts are relatively resistant to apoptosis induced by TNFalpha.
