In this paper, we study the problem of evaluating the impact of hardware faults on decoded image/video quality. Our goal is to define quality evaluation tools for fault acceptability of hardware; acceptable faults are those that lead to a degradation in decoded quality that is deemed “acceptable”, according to perceptual criteria.
