The imino sugar deoxynojirimycin and its alkylated derivatives are inhibitors of the N-linked oligosaccharide processing enzymes alpha-glucosidase I and II. These compounds are glucose analogues and have the potential to inhibit both glucosidases and glucosyltransferases.
