Abstract Two ultraviolet-absorbing compounds were detected on paper chromatograms of plasma lipid extracts. Present in trace amounts in the plasma of normal fasting subjects, their concentration was found to be increased following the oral administration of nicotinamide. The less polar compound was identified as N'-methyl-2-pyridone-5-carboxamide.
