During a survey on Myxobolus infection of pond-cultured common carp in Syria three Myxobolus spp. were found. Myxobolus dispar infected the gill arteries, forming large elongated plasmodia in the gill filaments. The plasmodia of M basilamellaris were located in the gill arches at the base of the filaments. Elongated filiform plasmodia of M. encephalicus were found in the blood vessels of the brain. Despite the common occurrence of the above parasites, no disease symptoms were observed in the…

Myxobolus musseliusae (Myxozoa: Myxobolidae) from the gills of common carp Cyprinus carpio and revision of Myxobolus dispar recorded in China

TLDR
The data presented here allow us to conclude that the species isolated is M. musseliusae and that prior reports of M. dispar in China are unsubstantiated.

Agricultural Academy BRAIN MYXOBOLIASIS OF COMMON CARP

CIRKOVIC, M., N. MILOSEVIC, M. MARKOVIC and A. POTKONJAK, 2010. Brain myxoboliasis of common carp. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 16: 263-265 The common carp (Cyprinus carpio) originating from Serbian fish

BRAIN MYXOBOLIASIS OF COMMON CARP

TLDR
Blood test results in fingerlings with high number of spores in brain had similar values to those in unaffected fingerlings, and morbidity percentage was higher for carps up to the one-month old cultured in the ponds serving for older carp winter storage.

Co-infection of bacterial and parasitic pathogens including the myxosporean Zschokkella auratis infecting brain in farmed striped murrel Channa striata (Bloch, 1793) causing large scale mortality

TLDR
It was delineated that prolonged low water temperature might be playing one of the influential roles in creating stress in fish, thus making the fish susceptible to complicated or mixed bacterial and parasitic infections.

Study of Using Monogenea Parasites on Free – Living Fishes in the Lake of 16 Tishreen Dam as Bio Indicators of Environment Pollution

TLDR
Study showed that the lake of 16 Tishreen Dam was relatively clean, and Cichlidogyrus sclerosus was the most important monogenic parasites used as bio indicator of environmental pollution in the lake.

TLDR
Myxobolus dogieli infecting the heart muscles of carp was noted in a cage fishfarm situated in the upper Volga river and some of the fishes perished.

OCCURRENCE OF MYXOBOLUS ENCEPHALICUS (MUSLOW 1911) IN POLAND: POSSIBLE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE PARASITE INFECTION AND CLINICAL SYMPTOMS IN COMMON CARP (CYPRINUS CARPIO)

TLDR
The common carp originating from 18 farms, where unexplained cases of disease symptoms and fish mortality appeared, were examined for the presence of Myxobolus encephalicus.

Myxobolus intrachondrealis sp. n. (Myxosporea: Myxobolidae), a parasite of the gill cartilage of the common carp, Cyprinus carpio.

TLDR
A species not identifiable with any of the about 23 Myxobolus species recorded from the common carp, was detected in the gills of one- and two-summer-old specimens of theCommon carp cultured in pond farms in Hungary.

The pathogenicity and development within the host fish of Myxobolus cyprini Doflein, 1898

TLDR
Observations of naturally infected common carp fry and two-summer carp have revealed that M. cyprini is a specific muscle parasite, developing intracellularly in the muscle fibres of the skeletal muscle.

Infection of cultured and freshwater fishes with monogeneans in Syria

TLDR
During a survey made in 2004 and 2005 in Syrian fish farms and on natural water fishes harvested in the Orontes River and in Lake Assad, 145 specimens of fish belonging to 15 fish species were examined for monogenean infections.

Myxosporean Infections in Cultured Tilapias in Israel1

TLDR
Five new species of myxosporean parasite are described from cultured tilapias in Israel, one of which may localize in the melano-macrophage centers of the spleen and kidney where they may eventually be destroyed.

Incidence of monogenean species on the gills of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) collected from Hungarian and Syrian fish farms.

TLDR
In Europe there are many data on the Incidence of parasites of the common carp and 4 Dactylo gyrus species (D. anchoratus, D. extensus, D . minutus and D. vastator) and 2 Gyrodacty lus species (G. katharlneri and G. medius) can be considered common.

Histological studies on the host response to Myxobolus artus Akhmerov, 1960 (Myxozoa: Myxobolidae) infection in the skeletal muscle of carp, Cyprinus carpio L.

TLDR
In most cases, Myxobolus artus infection of carp took the form of interfibrillar pseudocysts in the skeletal muscle, some showing abnormal growth, imperfect encapsulation of the parasite by the host connective tissue and irregular development of the ectoplasm.
