This study evaluated the ability of 2-dimensional echocardiography to detect myocardial infarcts of varying sizes. Echocardiography was performed in 29 closed-chest, conscious dogs 2 days after circumflex coronary artery occlusion, and the ultrasonic recordings were analyzed for regional abnormalities in either wall thickening or endocardial motion.
