During infection of macrophages, prolonged signaling by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) or its 19-kDa lipoprotein (LpqH; Rv3763) inhibits IFN-gamma-induced expression of several immune function genes, including class II transactivator (CIITA), which regulates class II MHC.
