Control of tuberculosis, the single largest killer among the infectious diseases, has been threatened by the emergence of multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MDRTB) infection due to the limited treatment options. Rifampicin (RIF) resistance is considered as a marker for MDRTB.
