The frequencies of overexpression and mutation in the p53 tumor suppressor gene were examined in proliferative verrucous leukoplakia and oral squamous cell carcinoma with immunohistochemistry and single-strand conformation polymorphism analysis of DNA fragments amplified by polymerase chain reaction.
