Our research is to develop a methodology for separating musical audio into streams of individual sound sources, such as instruments or voice. In this paper, we show the current progress of our research and a system built on the Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) algorithm. The system was tested on both artificially mixed audio and real musical recording.
