OBJECTIVE The purpose of this article is to detail the biology of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), critically review the existing literature, and discuss future research applications needed to adopt PRP as a mainstay treatment method for common musculoskeletal injuries. CONCLUSION Any promising minimally invasive therapy such as PRP deserves further investigation to avoid surgery.
