Muon Calibration at SoLid

  title={Muon Calibration at SoLid},
  author={Daniel Martin Saunders},
The SoLid experiment aims to make a measurement of very short distance neutrino oscillations using reactor antineutrinos. Key to its sensitivity are the experiment’s high spatial and energy resolution, combined with a very suitable reactor source and efficient background rejection. The fine segmentation of the detector (cubes of side 5cm), and ability to resolve signals in space and time, gives SoLid the capability to track cosmic muons. In principle a source of background, these turn into a…

The SoLid experiment aims to measure the anti-neutrino energy spectrum 5.5-10m from the core of the BR2 nuclear reactor at SCK•CEN in Mol, Belgium. The goal is to provide the most sensitive search

Development & Implementation of the Trigger for a Short-baseline Reactor Antineutrino Experiment (SoLid)

After having introduced the experimental and theoretical background of neutrino oscillation physics, as well as SoLid's detector technology, read-out system and trigger scheme, the thesis presents the design of the firmware neutron trigger implemented by applying machine learning methods.

Development of the source calibration system of the STEREO experiment and search for sterile neutrinos at the ILL

The STEREO experiment has been proposed to give an unambiguous response to the hypothesis of a light sterile neutrino state (∆m 2 ∼ 1eV 2 ) as the origin of the reactor antineutrino anomaly. Its goal

SoLid: Search for Oscillations with a Lithium-6 Detector at the SCK . CEN BR2 reactor

Sterile neutrinos have been considered as a possible explanation for the recent reactor and Gallium anomalies arising from reanalysis of reactor flux and calibration data of previous neutrino

First results of the deployment of a SoLid detector module at the SCK-CEN BR2 reactor

The SoLid experiment aims to resolve the reactor neutrino anomaly by searching for electron-to-sterile anti-neutrino oscillations. The search will be performed between 5.5 and 10 m from the highly

Neutron identification in the SoLid experiment

Unlike neutrino experiments conducted deep underground, neutrino detectors used in a reactor environment need to tolerate high levels of background radiation. Therefore, a reliable distinction

The reactor antineutrino anomaly

Recently, new reactor antineutrino spectra have been provided for 235U, 239Pu, 241Pu, and 238U, increasing the mean flux by about 3 percent. To a good approximation, this reevaluation applies to all
