This contribution describes a new filtering technique f o r the reduction of noise in medical x-ray amages acquired with very low doses, like fluoroscopy imayes. In such imoges, only between 10 ond 200 x-ray quanta contribute t o each pixel. The resulting Poisson statistic causes a strong deterioration of image quality b y quantum noise, which, in the observed images, is signal-dependent and exhibits a lowpass-shaped power spectrum.
