Abstract Polyacetylene derivatives (PADs) occurring in Rudbeckia hirta (Asteraceae) were isolated or chemically synthesized and examined for their insecticidal properties against mosquito larvae under different light regimes: dark (D), visible (VIS) and visible+near-ultra-violet (VIS+UV).
