This paper describes both a heuristic algorithm, Espresso-MV, and an exact algorithm, Espresso-EXACT, for minimization of multiple-valued input, binary-valued output logic functions. Minimization of these functions is an important step in the optimization of programmable logic arrays (PLA's).
