A non-linear gravitational model with a multidimensional geometry and quadratic scalar curvature is considered. For certain parameter ranges, the extra dimensions are stabilized if the internal spaces have negative constant curvature. As a consequence, the 4-dimensional effective cosmological constant as well as the bulk cosmological constant become negative. The homogeneous and isotropic external space is asymptotically AdS4. The connection between the D-dimensional and the 4-dimensional…

A nonlinear multidimensional gravitational model R+R −1 with form fields and stabilized extra dimensions

We studied multidimensional gravitational models with scalar curvature nonlinearity of the type R −1 and with form fields (fluxes) as a matter source. It is assumed that the higher-dimensional

Cosmologies from nonlinear multidimensional gravity with acceleration and slowly varying G

We consider multidimensional gravity with a Lagrangian containing the Ricci tensor squared and the Kretschmann invariant. In a Kaluza-Klein approach with a single compact extra space of arbitrary

Self-stabilization of extra dimensions

We show that the problem of stabilization of extra dimensions in Kaluza-Klein type cosmology may be solved in a theory of gravity involving high-order curvature invariants. The method suggested

Massive test particle motion in 5-dimensional electromagnetic-free Kaluza-Klein theory

A class of static, vacuum solutions of (free-electromagnetic) Kaluza-Klein equations with three-dimensional spherical symmetry is studied. In order to explore the dynamic in such spacetimes, geodesic

Inhomogeneous compact extra dimensions and de Sitter cosmology

In the framework of multidimensional $f(R)$ gravity, we study the metrics of compact extra dimensions assuming that our 4D space has the de Sitter metric. Manifolds described by such metrics could be

Astrophysical evidence for an extra dimension: phenomenology of a Kaluza Klein theory

In this brief review we discuss the viability of a multidimensional geometrical theory with one compactified dimension. We discuss the case of a Kaluza Klein fifth dimensional theory, addressing the

ABILITIES OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL GRAVITY

We show that a number of problems of modern cosmology may be addressed and solved in the framework of multidimensional gravity with high-order curvature invariants, without invoking other fields. As

The universe formation by space reduction cascades with random initial parameters

In this paper we discuss the creation of our universe using the idea of extra dimensions. The initial, multidimensional Lagrangian contains only metric tensor. We have found many sets of the

The diversity of universes created by pure gravity

We show that a number of problems of modern cosmology may be solved in the framework of multidimensional gravity with high-order curvature invariants, without invoking other fields. We use a method

String theory. Vol. 1: An introduction to the bosonic string

String Theory comprises two volumes which give a comprehensive and pedagogic account of the subject. Volume 1, first published in 1998, provides a thorough introduction to the bosonic string. The

String theory.

The current “standard model” of particle physics—which is nearly 25 years old, has much experimental evidence in its favor and is comprised of six quarks, six leptons, four forces, and the as yet unobserved Higgs boson—contains internal indications that it, too, may be just another step along the path toward uncovering the truly fundamental degrees of freedom.

String theory

Abstract For each n > 0, two alternative axiomatizations of the theory of strings over n alphabetic characters are presented. One class of axiomatizations derives from Tarski's system of the
