Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-based carbon/carbon composites were fabricated by the chemical vapor infiltration of pyrolytic carbon into pre-compressed MWCNT blocks. The pyrolytic carbon was deposited on the surface of the MWCNTs and filled the gaps between the MWCNTs, which improved the connection between the MWCNTs and formed a three-dimensional network structure. The mechanical and electrical properties were improved significantly. The values of the maximum compressed deformation…
The Fabrication and Properties of a Bendable High-Temperature Resistance Conductive Pitch-Based Carbon/CNT Film Nanocomposite
TLDR
Though the CNTF/MPC nanocomposites exhibited brittle tensile failure mode, they resisted cyclic bending without damage and have potential application in multi-functional temperature resistance aerospace structures.
Dimensional control of tubular-type carbon nanofibers via pyrolytic carbon coating
Abstract A posttreatment was carried out to control the dimensional and surface properties of tubular-type carbon nanofibers (TCNFs) via a pyrolytic carbon coating derived from the thermal
Fabrication and characterization of branched carbon nanostructures
TLDR
An inexpensive and simple method to fabricate large amounts of branched multiwalled carbon nanotubes (b-MWCNTs) is reported, which opens the door to a multitude of possible applications.

TLDR
X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy showed that fullerene single-wall nanotubes (SWNTs) are nearly uniform in diameter and that they self-organize into “ropes,” which consist of 100 to 500 SWNTs in a two-dimensional triangular lattice with a lattice constant of 17 angstroms.
