We have demonstrated that induction of mucosal tolerance to E-selectin, a cytokine-inducible adhesion molecule restricted to activating blood vessels, prevents ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke in spontaneously hypertensive, genetically stroke-prone (SHR-SP) rats.
