Mosheh ben Amram was in all probability born in Sopd, the twentieth nome in Lower Egypt, whose capital a Denderah list calls Kosem, the Goshen of the Bible, Ptolemy's Apa/3ta vo/os%, in the beginning of the century, during the reign of Ramessu II.
