A total of 17 parameters (nine lengths, four heights, four widths) was used to characterize the shape of the skull in a sample of 69 pure bred cats. Results of the discriminant analysis confirmed three phenotypically different skull formations, i.e. the round‐shaped, the triangular and the cuneiform. Further statistical analyses revealed that the appearance of the skull was especially variable in the case of a round shape and that the lengths had been especially affected by these…

Morphometric analysis of occipital bone in the domestic cat in comparison with selected skull size parameters and with special regard to skull morphotype.

The results of this study indicate that in the European cat the foramen magnum is free from any pathology and its shape, in the individual development, is conservative.

Conformation of the Equine Skull: A Morphometric Study

This method illustrated significant differences in the skull morphology of three breeds (Arabians, thoroughbreds and standardbreds) and included positive correlations between many of the head measurements.

Morphological variation of the caudal fossa of domestic cat skulls assessed with CT and geometric morphometrics analysis

The feline caudal fossa displays a wide range of intra- and inter-breed variation, not linked to age or sex, and is important for discriminating pathological changes from anatomical variances.

A descriptive morphometric approach to the skull in Red fox (Vulpes vulpes) of Egypt

Investigation of morphometric parameters of the skull of the Red fox of Egypt will provide baseline anatomy information on the skull morphometry, which is necessary for comparative anatomy and clinical veterinary practice, and will assist other clinical studies conducting on the Redfox’s head.

Anatomy of the Persian Cat's Skull and its Clinical Value During Regional Anesthesia

The head of Persian cats is characterized by a short face and open orbits, and the distances from mandibular foramen to the base ofmandible as well as from caudal border of mandible to below of the mandibULAR foramen were 0.8 cm and 1.04 cm, respectively, which are discussed with regard to their application to clinical maneuvers around the head of the Persian cats such as regional anesthesia during treating head injury and dental extraction.

AN OSTEOMETRIC STUDY OF THE SKULL OF ADULT BEETAL GOAT

Beetal is a large-sized goat breed in Pakistan, produce an average from 1.5 to 3 liters of milk on daily basis and is known for several features, including heat tolerance, prolificacy, and

Shape Variation in the Craniomandibular System and Prevalence of Dental Problems in Domestic Rabbits: A Case Study in Evolutionary Veterinary Science

It is suggested that the phenotypic changes in domestic rabbits impact mastication performance and, consequently, oral health, and an adequate close-to-nature nutrition is necessary to ensure a normal strain on the teeth by promoting physiological lateral gliding movements and avoiding direct axial loads.

Craniometric Measurements of the Male Eurasian Lynx from Turkey

The osteometric measurements of the cranium and mandible in the male Eurasian lynx, which is in the threatening of extinction, were determined and it is thought that these data will be an essential data source related to the male bobcat in zooarchaeological gap in Turkey.

GEOMETRIC MORPHOMETRIC ON DORSAL ASPECT OF SKULL DOES NOT ASSESS DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HORNED AND POLLED DOMESTIC GOATS

Few previous studies have explored caprine skulls using geometric morphometric (GM) methods, which enable the quantitative analysis and visualisation of shape changes in skeletal elements and provide

Osteometrical study on age related changes of the skull of Yankasa ram

There is dearth of information on the biometry, clinical and applied anatomy of the head region, general morphology on the indigenous breed of sheep in particular, hence led to the motivation behind

Feline dystocia: prevalence, and association with cranial conformation and breed

Relatively high levels of dystocia were identified in Siamese-type, Persian and Devon rex litters, whereas cats of mixed breeding showed a relatively low litter prevalence.

Dystocia in the cat: A retrospective study of 155 cases

Dystocia was somewhat higher in Persian cats than in other breeds and considerably lower in Norwegian forest cats.

Schädelformen beim Hund

From the data, a new classification of breeds with long, medium and short skulls is presented.
