Diospyros kaki Thunb. originated in Eastern Asia, as evidenced of its culture in China as early as several centuries B.C. In the seventh century, persimmon was introduced to Japan and later, in the fourteenth century to Korea. There is no information about persimmon culture in Europe until the seventeenth century, with the spread over the world occurring in the eighteenth century. The genus Diospyros contains more than 400 species, with levels of ploidy ranging from diploid (2n = 2x = 30) up to…
Evaluation of the morphological variability in Iberian Salvia lavandulifolia Vahl accessions
Twelve wild populations previously selected by their essential oil yield and general appearance have been propagated and cultivated and shown phenotypic stability in the two different environments and during the three years of testing, but intra-population and inter-population variability have been detected.
It was found that the consumer prefers a more acidic persimmon juice and a less firm or softer, less sweet, clearer and more intense yellow color persimMon jelly.
Characterization of morphological traits of local and globalpersimmon varieties and genotypes collected from Turkey
Persimmon genetic resources collected from Turkey and preserved ex situ with commercial cultivars in a germplasm orchard located at Cukurova University, Turkey, were characterized based on their morphological traits.
Analysis of Fruit Properties of ’Hacıhaliloğlu’ x ’Boccucia’ Hybrid Population
High levels of variation were observed regarding fruit weight, color, firmness and harvest time in the ’Hacıhaliloğlu’ x ’Boccucia’ population to develop new varieties at a later stage.
Molecular Assisted Selection for Pollination-Constant and Non-Astringent Type without Male Flowers in Spanish Germplasm for Persimmon Breeding
A marker developed in D. lotus by bulk segregant analysis and amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers, named DlSx-AF4, has been validated in a germplasm collection of persimmon and results obtained agree with the phenotype data.
The effect of regional diversity on 12 agro-morphological descriptors of Sesbania bispinosa (Jacq.) W. Wight was studied. The mean sum of square varied significantly for six of these traits viz.,
Persimmon (Diospyros Kaki L.): Chemical Properties, Bioactive Compounds and Potential Use in the Development of New Products – A Review
ABSTRACT Persimmon is a good source of nutrients, especially carbohydrates, dietary fibers, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids, and phenolic compounds, among other bioactive phytochemicals. It is
Effect of particle size on phytochemical composition and antioxidant properties of two persimmon flours from Diospyros kaki Thunb. vars. 'Rojo Brillante' and 'Triumph' co-products.
The persimmon juice extraction can be processed to obtain flours rich in sugars, organic acids and bioactive compounds, suggesting their possible use as a functional ingredient (with antioxidant properties) in different food products.

Influence of Low Temperature before Flowering on the Occurrence of Unreduced Pollen in Japanese Persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb.)
Exposure to a low temperature before flowering could enhance the unreduced pollen formation in five cultivars of japanese persimmon including two cultivars that barely produce unred reduced pollen under the field condition to determine if the percentage of unreducing pollen formation could be increased by changing environmental conditions.
Associations among Morphological and Phonological Characters Representing Apricot Germplasm in Central Mexico
The widest range of variability observed among phenotypes was for fruit size and factors associated with adaptation to local conditions, such as blossom season and yield potential as expressed by number of buds, flowers, and fruits per length of fruiting spurs.
From Germplasm to Fruit Export : The Case of Rojo Brillante Persimmon
Selection of the high quality persimmon cultivar Rojo Brillante from the native germplasm from the local area 'Ribera del Xuquer', along with application of the technique for removing astringency
Analysis of apricot germplasm from the European ecogeographical group
Morphological, phenological and fruit quality traits of 55 apricot cultivars, including the most important clones grown in Spain, France and Italy, were evaluated using principal component analysis.
Diversity of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) germplasm in Tunisia
PCA and cluster analysis showed a considerable phenotypic and genetic diversity in the local pomegranate germplasm, and Parameters with high discriminating values were those related to fruit size and color and juice characteristics.
Chromosome numbers of Diospyros kaki cultivars
The chromosome numbers in 18 cultivars and 94 open-pollinated progenies from 14 Cultivars of D. kaki were investigated by the method of enzymatic maceration or squash method, using shoot apical

Summary Detailed crop-specific descriptions and codes are presented for the growth stages of the persimmon tree, contributing to the standardisation of national and international testing systems in
Applications of Principal Component Analysis to Horticultural Research
Horticultural researchers often must measure complex traits, such as vigor, reproductive performance, morphology, or adaptability, and develop relationships with treatments or associated variables.
The detection of disease clustering and a generalized regression approach.
The technic to be given below for imparting statistical validity to the procedures already in vogue can be viewed as a generalized form of regression with possible useful application to problems arising in quite different contexts.
