Abstract Acoustic and morphological characters are very important to distinguish species of Cicadidae. In this study, the morphological and acoustic characters of Cicadatra platyptera Fieber, 1876 (Hemiptera, Cicadidae) collected from Turkey were analysed. The external morphological structures of two species were drawn and photographs of some specimens were taken. We evaluated taxonomically important morphological characters such as body shape, colors, patterns, structure, and genital structure…
Evaluation of Morphological and Bioacoustics Characteristics of Cicadivetta tibialis (Panzer, 1798) (Cicadoidea: Tibicinidae) According to Samples Collected from the South East Mediterranean Region of Anatolia in Turkey
In this study, in terms of morphological and bioacoustics population of Cicadivetta tibialis from South East Mediterranean Anatolia of Turkey were studied and compared with data from the literature.
Some notes to morphological and bioacoustics characteristics of Cicadatra hyalina (Fabricius, 1798) (Cicadoidea: Cicadidae) according to samples collected from different parts of Turkey
Article history: DOI: 10.16955/bitkorb.333371 Received : 07.08.2017 Accepted : 20.06.2018 In this study, Cicadatra hyalina (Fabricius, 1798), known to be economically important due to species damages
A new species of Oligoglena Horváth, 1912 (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) from Mediterranean Turkey
Oligoglena gogalai sp. n. is described from Olympos Beydağları Mountains in southern Turkey, which are part of the Taurus Mountains and are known for their high diversity and endemism rate of both
Checklist and provisional atlas of singing cicadas (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) of Bulgaria, based on bioacoustics
The Bulgarian fauna of singing cicadas at the moment consists of 16 confirmed and 3-4 potential species and detected unknown singing patterns, which could belong to three or four additional taxa, which need to be described.
Extraction of high thermally stable and nanofibrous chitin from Cicada (Cicadoidea)
Chitin was extracted and physicochemically characterized from six Cicadas species collected from Mediterranean region of Turkey using a classic extraction method that includes acid and base treatment and the surface morphology of chitin isolates from Cicada species was observed to consist of nanofibers and nanopores.

Morphological and acoustic analysis of Cicada Linnaeus, 1758 species in Turkey
Abstract The morphological characters and the male calling songs of four species of Cicada occurring in Turkey, namely Cicada lodosi Boulard, 1979, C. mordoganensis Boulard, 1979, C. orni (Linnaeus,
Differences in the male calling songs of two sibling species of Cicada (Hemiptera: Cicadoidea) in Greece
As there has been very little divergence between these two species at the protein electrophoretic level, the acoustic divergence has evolved independently of allozyme divergence, this may imply that in these cicada acoustic divergence, and therefore premating isolation, may have evolved rapidly and resulted in rapid speciation at low levels of general genetic differentiation.
Two new species of Cicadatra (Hemiptera: Cicadoidea) from Greece
The present study is the description of two new species of Cicadatra Kolenati, 1857 found in some Greek islands during the summers of 1998 and 2001. Cicadatra icari sp. n. is described from Ikaria
Bioacoustic investigations and taxonomic considerations on the Cicadetta montana species complex (Homoptera: Cicadoidea: Tibicinidae).
Songs of closely related C. podolica and Korean mountain cicada are presented as well and it is concluded that this taxon should be raised to species level.
A new species of the cicada genus Cicadatra Kolenati, 1857 (Hemiptera, Cicadidae) from Pakistan with a key to the known species of Pakistani Cicadatra
Abstract A new species of cicada, Cicadatra ziaratica sp. n., is described from Pakistan. Male genitalia, timbal and opercula are described and illustrated as important diagnostic characters.
Spectacular song pattern from the Sicilian Mountains : the new cicada species Cicadetta anapaistica sp. n. (Hemiptera: Cicadidae)
Acoustic investigations of Cicadetta montana s. l. have revealed the presence of morphologically cryptic species in the last few years. This work describes the new cicada Cicadetta anapaistica sp. n.
The cicadas of Iran with the description of two new species (Hemiptera, Cicadidae)
Thirty-eight species in 14 genera from 7 tribes of the 3 subfamilies of the family Cicadidae constitute the recorded cicada fauna of Iran and endemic species (13 taxa) represent 34.2% of the total fauna.
An appraisal of the higher classification of cicadas (Hemiptera: Cicadoidea) with special reference to the Australian fauna
A cladistic analysis of generic relationships has been used to test the validity of currently held views on family and subfamily groupings, based upon an exhaustive study of nymphal and adult morphology, including both external and internal adult structures.
The fauna of singing cicadas of Macedonia has been investigated with classic and bioacoustic methods, using recording equipment for sonic range and ultrasonic detectors, and 10 more species are discovered.
The cicada fauna of Pakistan including the description of four new species (Hemiptera: Cicadoidea: Cicadidae)
The cicada fauna of Pakistan now comprises of a total of 29 species from 13 genera, five tribes and three subfamilies, and the new records and new species represent a 61% increase in faunal diversity.
