Consumption of high-fat diet (HFD) induces nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and may lead to multiple complications affecting human health. In the present study, effect of Moringa oleifera leaf extract (MoLE) in alleviating HFD induced liver injury in mice has been reported. Liver histology and serum activity of hepatic marker enzymes i.e. aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) have been studied. Lipid peroxidation (LPO), ferric…

Amelioration of Hepatic Lipid Peroxidation and Insulin Sensitivity by an Ethanolic Extract of Moringa oleifera in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) in Rats

It is suggested that EEMO improves the hepatic status of animals with NAFLD, and also increases the Homeostasis Model Assessment for insulin resistance, serum insulin and fasting blood glucose levels, suggesting diminished insulin sensitivity.

Moringa oleifera Lam. seed extract prevents fat diet induced oxidative stress in mice and protects liver cell-nuclei from hydroxyl radical mediated damage.

Moringa oleifera seed extract was found to be polyphenol rich with potent reducing power, free radicals and hydroxyl radicals scavenging activity and can be used as herbal medication against HFD induced ROS mediated disorders.

Amelioration of Hepatic Lipid Peroxidation and Insulin Sensitivity by an Ethanolic Extract of Moringa o leif era in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) in Rats

Findings suggest that EEM O imp rov es the hepatic status of animals with NAFLD, and a significant increase in activity of Supero xide Dis mutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) level, signifying the existence of hepatic lipid peroxidation.

Cardiac Ameliorative Effect of Moringa oleifera Leaf Extract in High-Fat Diet-Induced Obesity in Rat Model

The treatment with the methanolic extract of Moringa oleifera leaves alleviated abnormalities in the serum biochemical parameters, balanced the antioxidant status, and reestablished the normal histological structure of the heart especially in the case of the higher concentration.

Quercetin alleviates inflammation after short-term treatment in high-fat-fed mice.

It is concluded that short-term treatment with Moringa oleifera leaf extract and its constituent quercetin prevent HFD-mediated inflammation in mice.

Influence of Moringa oleifera on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver in Adult Albino Rats

The main target of this study was to investigate the beneficial effects of Moringa oleifera (MO) (leaves and roots) on nutritional values, protection against oxidative stress and hepato protective

Moringa oleifera Leaf Ethanolic Extract Subsidized by Low Doses of Gamma Irradiation Modulates the Thioacetamide Induced Fibrotic Signs in Liver of Albino Rats

It could be concluded that exposure to LDR intensifies the effectiveness of MOE against liver fibrosis induced by TAA in rats.

Efficacy of Moringa oleifera Aqueous Extract in Inhibiting Tamoxifen®-Induced Physiological Hepatic Deterioration in Male Albino Rats.

It is speculated that MAE has the capacity to scavenge free radical and can protect against oxidative stress induced by TAM intoxication and could be useful in alleviating tamoxifen-induced liver injury in rats.

Cissus quadrangularis stem alleviates insulin resistance, oxidative injury and fatty liver disease in rats fed high fat plus fructose diet.

Protective effects of the Alisma orientalis extract on the experimental nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

It is suggested that the AOME showed hepatoprotective effects on NAFLD and may be a potential clinical application for treatment of this chronic liver disease.

Hepatoprotective activity of Moringa oleifera on antitubercular drug-induced liver damage in rats.

Results of this study showed that treatment with M. oleifera extracts or silymarin appears to enhance the recovery from hepatic damage induced by antitubercular drugs.

Amelioration of ionizing radiation induced lipid peroxidation in mouse liver by Moringa oleifera Lam. leaf extract.

Phytochemical analysis showed that MoLE possess various phytochemicals such as ascorbic acid, phenolics, etc., which may play the key role in prevention of hepatic lipid peroxidation by scavenging radiation induced free radicals.

Green tea extract protects leptin-deficient, spontaneously obese mice from hepatic steatosis and injury.

The results suggest that GTE protects against NAFLD by limiting hepatic lipid accumulation and injury without affecting hepatic antioxidant status and adiponectin-mediated lipid metabolism.

The data indicate that QE attenuates BDL-induced cholestatic liver injury, bile duct proliferation, and fibrosis, and the hepatoprotective effect of QE is associated with antioxidative potential.

Evaluation of hematological and hepatorenal functions of methanolic extract of Moringa oleifera Lam. root treated mice.

The results indicate that the weekly moderate and high dose (> 46 mg/kg body wt.) and daily/therapeutic high dose of CE affects liver and kidney functions and hematological parameters whereas the weekly dose and low and moderate daily/Therapeutic dose did not produce adverse effects on liver and kidneys functions.

Hepatic lipotoxicity and the pathogenesis of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis: The central role of nontriglyceride fatty acid metabolites

The lipotoxic liver injury hypothesis for the pathogenesis of NASH suggests that the authors need to focus therapeutic efforts on reducing the burden of fatty acids going to the liver or being synthesized in the liver by improving insulin sensitivity at the level of adipose tissue to prevent inappropriate peripheral lipolysis.
