Mood and language-game

These three sentences have something in common, which, following Wittgenstein's terminology, I call the sentence-radicaP; what is different in each of them I call the modal element. The sentence-radical signifies the descriptive content of the sentence, the modal element signifies its mood. If the name of the person addressed as 'you' is John, we may more easily distinguish the modal element by writing sentences (1)-(3) in the form
