This paper describes the use of a designoriented engine cycle simulation model in Modelica for evaluating robustness of engine NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) to noise factors. This paper highlights the novel use of the cycle simulation model for analytic robustness studies using Monte Carlo simulations. The Monte Carlo simulations allow the robustness of a statistically significant engine population to be examined upfront in the product development process. The paper also discusses a…
Monte Carlo Simulation with Modelica
TLDR
The paper demonstrates how to describe the random characteristic of parameters in a tool-independent manner in Modelica using the multi-run facilities of a simulation engine statistical analysis can be carried out without any code intervention concerning the tool.
Detailed Simulation of Turbocharged Engines with Modelica
This paper describes the development and application of detailed models for the simulation of turbocharged spark-ignited engines in Modelica. Following a brief overview of previously-published

Spark-Ignited-Engine Cycle Simulation in Modelica
TLDR
The use of the Modelica modeling language for the cycle simulation of a spark-ignited engine and the results illustrate that Modelica is capable of handling the complex physical models required by cycle simulation programs.
A Transient, Multi-Cylinder Engine Model Using Modelica
This paper describes a transient, thermodynamic, crank angle-based engine model in Modelica that can be used to simulate a range of advanced engine technologies. A single cylinder model is initially
Simulation of Engine Systems in Modelica
TLDR
This paper details the use of the Modelica modeling language for the simulation of engine systems with particular attention to the structure and implementation of the models that promotes model flexibility and re-use.
Evaluating Engine Contributions to HEV Driveline Vibrations
In order to comply with increasing consumer and regulatory demand for improved fuel economy and lower emissions, Ford Motor Company is developing a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) version of the Escape
Learning Python
TLDR
This book starts with a thorough introduction to the elements of Python: types, operators, statements, functions, modules, and exceptions, and shows how Python performs common tasks and presents real applications and the libraries available for those applications.
