This paper models a good for which there are dynamic network externalities, and investigates the properties of the Markov Perfect equilibrium (MPE) that arises when there is monopoly or oligopoly supply. The framework is a continuous-time overlapping-generations model with constant probability of death in which every member of a cohort born at some time t must make a once-and-for-all decision as to whether to purchase a good which enhances such a member’s income.
