We review the physics of topological objects in QCD. Topics include: solitons, vortices, magnetic monopoles, instantons, (effective theories of) confinement.
Some Non Perturbative Aspects of Gauge theories
In this thesis we study some non perturbative aspects of gauge theories. We give particular emphasis on the understanding of dual confinement of magnetic monopoles by using flux tube configurations.
Charges, Monopoles and Gauge Invariance
A systematic approach to the description of gauge invariant charges is presented and applied to the construction of both the static colour charge configuration in QCD and the monopole solution in
Strings, gravity and particle physics
This contribution, aimed mostly at experimental particle physicists, reviews some of the main ideas and results of String Theory in a non-technical language. It originates from the talks presented by
A strange relationship between 2d CFT and 4d gauge theory
A relationship between 4d gauge theory and 2d CFT will be reviewed from the very basics. We will
BPS ansatzes as electric form-factors.
We argue that BPS ansatzes, entering manifestly vacuum BPS monopole solutions to equations of motion in the (Minkowskian) non-Abelian Higgs model play the role of some electric form-factors and that
Superfluid properties of BPS monopoles.
This paper is devoted to demonstrating manifest superfluid properties of the Minkowskian Higgs model with vacuum BPS monopole solutions at assuming the ”continuous” ∼ S 2 vacuum geometry in that
Monopoles and flux strings from SU(2) adjoint scalars
We construct, in an SU(2) gauge theory with two adjoint scalars, flux strings with monopoles attached at the ends. One scalar breaks SU(2) → U(1) and produces monopoles, the other then breaks the
Nontrivial topological dynamics in Minkowskian Higgs model quantized by Dirac.
We study the nontrivial topological dynamics inherent in the Minkowskian Higgs model with vacuum BPS monopoles quantized by Dirac. It comes to persistent collective solid rotations inside the
Charge-Dependent Correlations in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions and the Chiral Magnetic Effect
We provide a phenomenological analysis of present experimental searches for local parity violation manifested through the Chiral Magnetic Effect. We introduce and discuss the relevant correlation
Flux dualization in broken SU(2)
An SU(2) gauge theory is broken to U(1) by an adjoint scalar to produce magnetic monopoles. At a lower scale, this U(1) is further broken by a fundamental scalar to produce tubes of magnetic flux. We

Solitons with Fermion Number 1/2
We study the structure of soliton-monopole systems when Fermi fields are present. We show that the existence of a nondegenerate, isolated, zero-energy, $c$-number solution of the Dirac equation
