We report a combined theoretical and experimental study on the single-molecule interaction of fullerenes with phospholipid membranes. We studied pristine C(60) (1) and two N-substituted fulleropyrrolidines (2 and 3), one of which (3) bore a paramagnetic nitroxide group.
