An analytical approach has been described for the molecular weight characterization of enzymatically degraded hyaluronic acid (HA). The approach involved the combined use of aqueous gel filtration chromatography (GFC) with matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS).
