Cryptosporidium parvum is an obligate protozoan parasite responsible for the diarrheal illness cryptosporidiosis in humans and animals. Although C. parvum is particularly pathogenic in immunocompromised hosts, the molecular mechanisms by which C. parvum invades the host epithelial cells are not well understood.
