Within the genus Pseudois (Bovidae, Artiodactyla), two challenges are faced by taxonomists. First, the designation of the two subspecies of blue sheep, Pseudois nayaur nayaur and Pseudois nayaurszechuanensis, tends to be questionable with the accumulation of morphological and molecular data.
