In this chapter we present basic protocols for the use of Schizosaccharomyces pombe, commonly known as fission yeast, in molecular biology and genetics research. Fission yeast is an increasingly popular model organism for the study of biological pathways because of its genetic tractability and as a model for metazoan biology.
